BRICO & DIY PRODUCTS

In this section you will find the most frequently asked questions to our customer care concerning do-it-yourself products in the home; select the type of product you are interested in and find the answer you are looking for.

VACUUM CLEANERS

No. Without a filter, dust gets into the engine compartment and impairs functionality.

Even if the filter is then fitted, dust will still come out of the engine compartment.

In that case, the product must be taken to a service centre.

If you move the switch to the 'I' position, you can use it as a normal hoover.

If I set it to "II", the start-up and shutdown of the vacuum cleaner is controlled by the switch of the power tool connected to the auxiliary socket .

The start-up and shut-down of the vacuum cleaner motor is delayed by a few seconds in relation to the start-up of the connected power tool.

The vacuum cleaner has a float inside.

When the liquid in the drum reaches a certain level, the float closes the air passage and the engine runs faster but without sucking in air.

This is a safety device that prevents the motor from coming into contact with water.

A similar effect occurs with the filter completely soaked in water.

This can be solved by switching off the vacuum cleaner, emptying the bin and trying to dry out the filter as much as possible.

COAXIAL COMPRESSORS

The compressor is equipped with electrical overload protection.

Wait a few minutes for the automatic reset.

If equipped with external electrical protection, after waiting a few minutes, press the black reset button.

If the protection has tripped, it means that the compressor has overheated, so make sure that the compressor is working in a ventilated area.

If this occurs on first start-up, you have operated the compressor without introducing oil into the pump unit. Contact the service centre.

The compressor is sold without oil.

1. If the problem occurs in winter, the cause is hardening of the oil inside the pump unit due to low temperatures. If used in a cold environment, replace the oil in the pump unit with fairly fluid synthetic oil.

2. You started the engine by inserting the plug into the socket with the red pressure switch button up. First the plug is plugged into the socket, then the red button on the pressure switch is lifted. In this way the pumping unit starts more easily because the air circuit is unloaded. The compressor must only be switched on and off via the red button on the pressure switch.

3. If it is a new compressor, the original oil cap without venting is still fitted. Remove the sealing cap fitted in the pump unit and fit the one on the small parts bag.

4. A thin electrical extension cord is being used which causes a considerable voltage drop. Use an extension cord of a suitable cross-section.

WARNING! The pumping unit is supplied without lubrication oil: do not operate the machine without lubrication oil.

Use a high-quality, highly detergent 4T engine oil, classified API categories SG and SF, oil type SAE 15W-40.

Running the machine without oil will damage it irreparably and void the warranty. Insert the oil in the pump unit and check that the level is between the two minimum and maximum marks (if there is a dipstick in the oil cap), or that it is above half the transparent sight glass located in the aluminium casing.

Do not exceed the maximum level.

DRILLS & DEMOLITORS HAMMERS

1. If the hammer is new, before using it, run the breaker idle for a few moments so that the grease is distributed to the internal mechanical parts. The hammer should not be run idle with the percussion engaged.

2. When used for drilling, with percussion engaged, the hammer advances with each blow of the hammer by the correct depth, so it is not recommended to force it by exerting excessive pressure on the handle.

3. During drilling operations, the hammer must not be swung to the right or left, the movement can create internal fractures and damage the drill bit.

4. The air intakes of the tool should be blown out periodically with compressed air to remove dust accumulations and maintain proper ventilation of the motor.

5. Remember periodically to stop working and grease the shank of the drill bits or chisels you are using.

6. Engagement/disengagement of percussion and rotation must be carried out with the tool switched off.

7. Periodically remove the top cap and check for grease.

The reservoir does not have to be filled with grease up to the mouth, a small amount is sufficient.

  1. Batteries should never be left uncharged.
  2. Remember to charge them after each use and whenever you notice a drop in performance of the device.
  3. Charging should be carried out every 4 months even if not in use.

SINGLE-PHASE GENERATORS

There is no oil in the engine compartment.

Four-stroke generators have a safety device fitted in the engine, which in the event of a lack of oil does not allow it to start.

Generators are sold without oil.

After placing the oil inside the engine compartment and positioning the generator on a flat surface, check that the oil reaches the mouth of the engine crankcase, where the oil plug must be positioned.

The picture shows the correct oil level.

The generator socket may only be used as a battery charger.

It is crucial to know what is the maximum electrical load you wish to supply with generator current.

You have to check the power consumption/power, indicated in watts (W), on the technical data labels of the products you want to connect to the generator, and possibly add them together if you need to use them together.

It should be borne in mind that most electrical products absorb more power at start-up than the rated power indicated on the label.

The genset must be chosen to be able to supply this extra power in the starting moments. To help quantify how many watts are needed to start an electrical product, an inrush coefficient can be used, which must be multiplied by the power of the product to be powered.

Rated power x Starting ratio = Power required for starting.

Purely resistive products: irons, electric stoves, incandescent lamps have a coefficient of '1'.

Quasi-resistive products (with brush motors): power tools, small electrical appliances, etc. have a coefficient of '1.5'.

Inductive products (with asynchronous motors): compressors, pumps, hoists, neon lamps, etc. have a coefficient of '2'.

Products with high inrush current: refrigerators, air conditioners, welders, etc. have a coefficient of '5'.

WARNING! The motor is supplied without lubrication oil: do not operate the machine without lubrication oil! Filling must be carried out first.

Use a quality, highly detergent 4T engine oil, classified API categories SG and SF. An SAE 15W-40 oil is suitable for all operating temperatures, but it is always a good idea to choose the type of oil according to the average temperatures in the area.

Ambient operating temperature - Oil viscosity grade

0°C to 25°C SAE 20W, 10W-30, 15W-40

25°C to 35°C SAE 30W, 10W-30, 15W-40

above 35°C and up to 45°C SAE 40W

The correct oil level is shown in the image below.
